What would the Buddha do?

Wake Up Retreat for Young People (age 16 to 30).

Course with young monks and nuns of EIAB.

It is so easy to practice at a retreat center where everyone is supporting us. But how can we continue to practice at home in our every day environment – at home, at school, in university, and the workplace?

What would the Buddha do in order to:

  1. Solve a conflict in the family, a friendship or relationship;

  2. Cultivate love and understanding with himself, his beloved ones and friends;

  3. Relax before an exam or while working on a project;

  4. Behave in a skillful way at a party where everyone drinks;

  5. Choose the right job;

  6. Build a loving and respectful relationship;

  7. Create a Wake Up Sangha or share the practice with friends in an informal way;

  8. Arrive with every step?

It would not be a Wake Up retreat if we wouldn`t cultivate playfulness and have plenty of fun together.

There is a reduced price for our Wake Up retreats. Contact us for more information.

In this weekend, the focus of our activities is on children, and parents/grandparents/adult guardians are welcome to join in as a supportive presence to the children's activities. There will be optional sessions of sitting each morning before breakfast for adults, and a bonfire for everyone on Saturday evening. Adults are also welcome to join in Thay Phap An's weekend course.

German retreat - For a better world.

Coming Together in Family, School, at Work and in Society.

Retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh and the monks and nuns of the EIAB

To live peacefully in modern society we have to learn to use technology  in a meaningful way so that it does not control us. It is of special importance to develop family structures where children and adults can really feel at home. And we need a supportive environment, especially in schools and the work place. We must learn to think and act as a community. In order to fulfill this task we need a spiritual dimension in our life – a spirituality without dogma or discrimination.

In this retreat we will learn the art of mindful communication and of reconciliation: deep listening and loving speech are very important means to heal the wounds in families, schools, the work place, communities, and society at large.

Thich Nhat Hanh will share his experience of several decades in building communities.

There will be a children and teens program in German.

Language: English with German translation.

Dutch retreat - Together we create the future.

Retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh and the monks and nuns of the EIAB

Can we live in the present moment and at the same time create the future? The answer is very clear: the present moment is the best moment to create the future. If I am loving and mindful now, then I strengthen my capacity to love and be mindful in the future. The future is only made of the present moment.

We don’t practice mindfulness, loving speech and action just for ourselves, but we bring it into all spheres of life. By sharing our practice with our family, in our school, at our workplace and in society we help to create a better society.

Language: English with Dutch translation.

A children and teens program will be offered in Dutch.

VESAK Weekend - Celebrating the Buddha's Birthday

Please join us to celebrate the Manifestation Day (Vesak Day) of our Beloved Teacher, the Buddha Shakyamuni - the Fully Enlightened One, the one who found the wonderful path of compassion and understanding and shared it with all beings.

Two thousand six hundred years ago in the town of Kapilavastu, a Buddha known as Shakyamuni was a human being just as we are, but in him understanding and love were developed to a very high degree, and he became a fully awakened being. He was a beautiful and precious flower in the garden of humanity, an udumbara flower that blooms only once every three thousand years. He practiced the Way for countless lives. He appeared on this Earth as a prince who left his royal palace to practice at the foot of the Bodhi Tree. He conquered illusion. When the morning star arose, he realized the great path of awakening and turned the wheel of the Dharma.

With single-mindedness, all species aspire to experience the path free from birth.

With single-mindedness, all species will experience a path free from birth.

Teen Camp 2011 - I(nner) Touch ~ Outer Network

our annual camp for teenagers (13-19 yrs old), no parents allowed.

With the practice of mindfulness, learning to be alive in the moment, we start connecting with ourselves, our thinking, feelings and our dreams. A new word appears! When we are connected with ourselves, our joy and freedom can grow. In full contact with ourselves we can really connect with others. Our network of friends becomes truly supportive and the brother/sisterhood will be very strong. Going through the day we will learn and start developing skills of understanding what it is to be a human being, what it is to be a teen ager.

During this camp we will stay in tents (around 5 teens per tent). The teen girls will get assigned to a tent in Clarity Oak Grove and the teen boys to a tent in the Solidity Campground. There will be monastic and lay staff staying in both campgrounds. Deer Park will provide the tents, but we ask everyone to bring your own sleeping bags and sleeping pads.

Together as brothers and sisters in a family we will practice mindfulness of sitting, walking, exercising, hiking, working, resting, playing, sining etc.

Family Retreat 2011 - We Are Family

We focus our attention on our children, teens and parents in this annual retreat.

Our annual Family Retreat is a celebration in mindfulness, joy and peace! Many families has been coming for many years already to this retreat and many families come for the first time. This retreat is a time when the community comes together to practice as a large spiritual family. We help each other out through coming to the activities, supporting washing up after meals, playing with the children at the retreat. Our minds and bodies slow down, relax and open up. Where does my family end and yours begin? Mindfulness, joy and peace will bring us together and makes our lives more colorful and fragrant.

With the practice of mindfulness as the base, we shall learn to practice deep listening and loving speech to nourish true harmony within our families. During this retreat, we shall learn to practice together as an extended family and to support each other at home, in the work place, and in school. At times, the parents and children will be together and at other times, they practice separately. It is a precious chance for the whole family to be in a practice setting and learn new ways of being with one another. We encourage both parents to join the whole duration of the retreat with their children. No partial attendance.
